Wishing Well

We have a wooden wishing well we want to sell. The proceeds will go towards our adoption expenses. It was made by the youth in our church. I wish I had the size of it, it is a big one. If there is someone interested in it let me know and I will get the measurements for it. We are asking 375.00 for it.

Yard Sale

We had a yard sale this past Sat. I had LOTS of stuff to sell, where do I get all this stuff??? The biggest item I was hoping to sell was our camera. And it DID sell! We made approximetaly 300.00 on Sat. The weather was beautiful, sunny, but a nice breeze so it wasn't to hot.
I came home with about 10 boxes of stuff that didn't sell, plus a couple of strollers, a walker, and a couple other odds and ends. I am hoping to go to the flea market in a couple of weeks. Alot of what I have left is baby clothes and they seem to sell good at the flea market.
We tried to sell hotdogs on Sat. as well, but only sold about 20 or so. It covered our cost at least. :-)
I am working on setting up a webpage, as soon as I get it done I will post the address on here.

Camera for Sale - Fundraiser

We are selling our camera. The money will be going towards our adoption expenses. I decided to make it available to those who look at this blog 1st. If nobody is interested in it I will try ebay.
We recently bought a digital camera so we are selling the camera we had before.

We have the camera body - a Minolta 300si. Several of its features are: auto or manual focusing, red eye reduction, self-timer, subject program selection - portrait mode, landscape, close up, sports, and night portrait, and single frame or continuous frame advance. It has alot of stuff on it that we never even figured out how to use. :-) The body looks brand new, no scratches or anything. We are asking 50.00 for it.

We have a 28 - 90 mm lens for it. It is a Quantaray brand. It to works and looks brand new.
We are asking 45.00 for that.

We have another lens, it is a Quantaray brand, 70 - 300 mm. This one looks brand new as well, but unfortnatly doesn't work like it is brand new. :-) It works on manual focus, but the automatic focus on it doesn't work. We have never taken it in to see if it could be fixed because we use the big lens so seldom, so it might be fixable, not sure. We are asking 25.00 for it.

We also have a high power flash unit for the camera. Again it is the Quantaray brand. I don't know enough about flashes or cameras to tell you much about the flash. It to looks and works like new. We are asking 65.00 for the flash.

We have the instructional manuals for the camera body, the small lens, and the flash, but we do not have the manual for the big lens.

If you are interested in one or all of these let us know. If you don't like our prices make an offer. :-)
Thanks for looking. Rachel

A Letter

This is a letter we handed out at our last garage sale. It is a short version of our boys story, and some info on our fundraisers.

We received the call on Saturday, June 25, 2005, at 10:00 pm. "Rachel, We have a baby boy for you," Our social worker announced. "Can you come tomorrow to pick him up?" I stuttered, collected my thoughts, and nearly shouted, "Oh, yes, of course we can!"

Sunday morning my husband and I boarded a plane enroute to Naples FL to meet our new little boy. By evening we had spent some time with Jayden Robert Santello Zehr. He was beautiful in every way.

As we left our meeting place in search of a motel, there, arched across the sky shone a spectacular rainbow. Glen and I blessed the Lord for the promise of His presence and smile upon our baby’s arrival. I quickly called my mother to marvel with her. While I was talking with mom the rainbow slowly turned double. It was breathtaking.

For the next two days we pondered the meaning of the double rainbow. And then, Tuesday morning our Social Worker was phoning again. "Rachel," she said, "I have another baby boy, born just this morning. He needs a home. I'm wondering if you would like to raise twins?"

Shocked, I looked to my husband with searching eyes and whispered, "Another baby!" Sensing His approval I responded, "Of course, yes, of course we do want to raise twins!"

Thursday morning we went to the hospital and met our second son, Jackson Milo Tyquan Zehr. He too was absolutely adorable.

When my sister heard about our second baby boy she exclaimed, "The mystery of the double rainbow!" God had given us His promise for both of our delightful baby boys. We sensed that He’ll walk with us as we speak truth into these little boy's lives in the years ahead.

We’ve been encouraged by the following verses of Scripture:

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Psalm 66:10 and 12 For thou O God hast refined us.... Then You brought us to rich fulfillment.

1st Samuel 1:27 For this child we prayed; and the Lord hath given us our petition.

As some of you know adoption can be very costly. We are currently working on fundraising to help with our expenses.

Home Again!

We are all home again. Was great to see Glen, and the children were happy to be with daddy again.
I don't have time to post much, but wanted to post how the garage sale went.
It was amazing! My secret goal was 750.00 - 1,000.00. We have had half a dozen garage sales over the years and have NEVER done that good, so it was a pretty high goal, and felt pretty impossible.
Sat. evening I counted what we had made and it was 865.00! Praise the Lord. We got rid of SO much stuff. Had almost 40 boxes to start with and only had 8 left. There were also several people that gave us donations. A big thank you to them!
I am hoping to go to the flea market in town on a Sat. morning to see if I can get rid of the rest of the stuff. I also have some more here that I wasn't able to take to my moms. I don't plan on making that much again, but hopefully at least some to put on our adoption expenses.
With what we made at our garage sale and the donations that were given to us we can put 1,000.00 on our adoption!
A BIG thank you to my family for helping me with the garage sale, and for donating all their things to the sale!
I want to post our story about getting the boys soon, and also some pictures. Stay tuned.

Garage Sale

I am still at my mom's in Ohio. We had a garage sale yesterday and today for the adoption. We plan to keep it open tomorrow yet too. We have sold ALOT of stuff, but there is still quite a bit out there. I hope to get rid of more so that I don't have to pack it up and take it back home. :-)
I have a very high (secret) goal. It seriously looks like we will make it! I will let you know after it is over. The weather was perfect for a garage sale. When we 1st started talking about it it was supposed to be in the 40's. We started praying for warmer weather and checked the weather every day. The Lord smiled on us!! Yesterday was in the high 60's, today was in the low 70's. Praise the Lord.
After tomorrow I will figure out a total and let you know. Every little bit we can put on our adoption expenses helps!
I am leaving on Sunday to go back home. Will be WONDERFUL to see my honey again. I MISS HIM!!
